My New "I'm Bored" Jar

Image
Hey everybody! It's Noelle, and I'm actually here to talk about a DIY-ish sort of thing that I did recently - an "I'm Bored" Jar.  Now, if you're on Pinterest, I pretty much 100% garantee that you've seen these.  If you haven't, they're basically jars filled with little prompts for activities.  They're usually aimed at kids, so that exhausted mothers can send children away with a tired, "Look in the jar", but since I've found I'm getting bored throughout the summer days, I decided to make one for myself :) Now, like I said, these are normally aimed for children.  And the other boredom busters I found were for people who had free time, money, and most importantly, a car - things I do not possess, my friends.  So a lot of the activities I came up with were ones that I thought, "Huh, that'd be fun to do."  Here's my list: Write a poem  (may I suggest this book to give you some inspiration ;) Make a mu...

Meme's Cranberries - Kathleen

Oh my heavens look what's almost here! Thanksgiving! It's my favorite holiday! You can eat without being judged! Yahoo! OK. So. As you can tell from the title, this is going to be a recipe. It's gonna be good. So my Meme (short for the French Memere which means Grandma) is the best cook ever. I'm pretty sure Gordon Ramsey would be cool eating my Meme's food. She makes cranberries with her Thanksgiving dinner, and I have kind of taken on the cranberry making role in our house. So I thought I would share the recipe with you! First, you need to gather all your ingredients. 4 cups cranberries 2 cups sugar 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 13 oz. jar orange marmalade 3 tablespoons lemon juice 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional) Now it's time to put it together. Mix your cranberries, sugar, and cinnamon together in a bowl. Put this sticky mess in a 9 inch pan with tin foil over the top. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes. After taking it out of the o...

DIY Fall Frame

Image
Doesn't everybody love a cute frame of fall stuff? Hi lovely readers?! How are you? Lovely? GOOD, I'm glad! So I thought today I would show you a super cute easy DIY using things you can find in your own backyard! Here are the supplies: Colorful Leaves Sticks (optional) White frame White Paint (optional) Paint Brush (foam) And directions might be necessary. So first you need to collect your leaves and possible sticks. Then, if your cardboard back to the frame is brown, you can paint it white. If you want to leave it brown, you can, I just like white more. I also left mine a little streaky because I thought it looked a little cool rustic. While you are doing this step, leave your leaves in the freezer. It will essentially freeze the color in place so they won't fade as quickly. Next, arrange your leaves how you want them. I let some have over the edge of my white border, and some I tucked under. Slip the glass over. Be careful, this is the step were you c...

DIY Notebooks!! - Kathleen

Image
OK everybody, I hope you are having a great week! I, personally, have been super excited for today. Since school is starting soon, I thought I would share something I have been doing for a few years now. I like to decorate my school supplies in cute scrapbook paper. Some of my friends have asked me how to do it, so I'm going to show you how! Supplies: Spiral Notebook Scrapbook Paper Solid Color Printer Paper Graph Paper Liquid Glue Ruler Pencil Black Marker/Pen Directions: Trace your scrapbook paper to fit the notebook and cut it out. Then squeeze glue all over the front cover. Lay the paper down on top and use your ruler to push any air bubbles out. This is what it should look like now. 2. Write the title of your notebook (i.e. Math, English etc.) on the graph paper and cut it out, leaving a little room around it. 3. Trace around the graph paper on the colored printer paper, leaving about a centimeter of border. Cut it out and glue t...

Noelle - Day 129 (I Came, I Ate, I Left a Mess)

Image
Hello! So as all the kids my age in the homeschool group now know, I'm fourteen!  YEAH!!!  And as most of the kids my age in the homeschool group now know, I had a KILLER birthday party!  We had an ultimate Mariokart battle (guess who won?  Answer: yours truly over here!), halloween costumes, and best of all, a photo booth!  Which is where I got all these photos from.  :) You ready for this?  Cuz I'm going to dump them on you in three...two...one...

Noelle - Day 118 (TDPC Day 5 and my Various Projects)

Image
HIYA!!!! ALLLLriiiighty.  Let's get started, shall we?  Well, I only have ten minutes to post, which is actually kinda a miracle compared to how much time I usually end up with.  Just you wait, I'll start posting and BAM - "Noooooelllle?  Can I get your help with thiiiiiissss?"  Groan. Anyway, focusing now, I've got a TON of projects to tell you ALL about, and as you can tell I have the energy to tell you about it.  But first, let me take a selfie (world tackles me screaming "noooooo") Actually, let me show you the next photo challenge photo. It took me like an hour to get some of these photos to pretty level, and this one still came out pretty blurry :( Where was I?  Ah yes, ranting on and on and on about all my boring projects.  I do have quite a few going on right now though.

Noelle - Day 110 (T.D.P.C. Day 2)

Image
Hiya! So today is Day 2 of the Fall Photo Challenge I'm doing (T.D.P.C.) and also, more R.M.S.!  Yay! (Not) So yesterday, I was confirmed in the Catholic Church!  Yay!  :)  Photos forthcoming.  I'll stop rambling now and actually post something interesting now. On top of my bookcase, I saw it and was like...why does mom still have this thing? Random Marvel-based Story (Part 59) Jess slowly recovered, but it was the wounds of the team that needed more attention.  Ava was grumpy, snapping at anybody who came to close, and Spider-man was reduced to shooting targets in anger (and usually missing).  Nova kept to himself for once, and Luke spent all of his time locked up in his room.  Danny, on the other hand, focused all his energy on caring for Jess. “If you would just pay attention and realize how hurt you are! ”  He said with a sigh of exasperation.  “In KunLun if you’re injured you stay in your hut until the ma...

Noelle - Day 107 (Paper Bag Tutorial 1)

Image
So um...paper bag?  What? I was really bored the other day, so I decided - "you know what, I'm going to make a bag out of all recycled materials.  That sounds fun."  Well, it didn't really happen that way, but you know, we're just going to gloss over that part. I made a purse out of three sheets of paper, 15 little Zits comic strip daily-calender thingies, roller glue (I suppose you could use tape but that wouldn't be as strong) and some other supplies.  Click the link below to the first part of the tutorial!

Noelle - Day 102 (Disney Geeking)

Image
Hiya! So how are my favorite readers today?  I dunno, because none of you ever comment.  -_- Anyway, today I'm starting to geek my room - changing it from Moroccan paradise to "Yep, a teen girl lives here" to Fangirl Central.  It obviously needs some work, but it's definitely getting there.  Yay! At any rate, I got some free geek stuff recently, thanks to a friend of mine.  It's this ADORABLE Mouse ears ornament, which of course went straight to my shelf.  It's so cute!!!  And (bonus points galore) it's not just any Mickey ears, it's Aladdin disney ears!  That is my favorite Disney movie, possibly tied with Lion King and Frozen and Tangled (don't judge).  Anyway, if you asked me what my favorite Disney movie is, I would probably blurt out Aladdin without hesitation. Click the link below for photos!

Noelle - Day 85 (Writing Journal Paintings)

Image
Hello y'all. Well it's finally happened.  I've started saying y'all as a normal part of my day.  Groan.  Complain.  Mutter.  Mom does it too, but she doesn't care - me on the other hand, I notice it and I just think to myself, "Ugh, could you be anymore Texan, Noelle?"  Anyway, so today's post is about my Writing Journal, which I love so much. It's a random notebook that my Mom gave me, and it's filling up bit-by-bit with tons of cool poetry (at least I think it's cool...some of it's actually kind of lame, but we're going to skip over that part today)  Inspired by some of my favorite poets, I did some concept painting to go with my fave poems and creative paragraphs in said writing journal.  And I wanted to post about it, naturally.  Why are you surprised?  (If this gets your attention, R.M.S. parts following!!!)

Noelle - Day 78 (Hahaha I lied)

Image
Yes, you read that title right. I WASN'T done with my art dump!!  HAhahahAha.  Yeah, I know, I'm crazy this time of day...well really any time of the day.... Anyway, it's only one photo, but its got a story to go along with it.  Ever heard a people watching?   {If you haven't, you are missing out on life sooo much}  Besides the beach, I like to people watch at Costco, because there's so many people to watch...and yes, I do have favorite people watching locations.  Deal with it. Well at any rate, I learned several important things about the fate of humanity.  I even made a list.  Click the link below to read it!

Noelle - Day 69 (Hands)

Image
Hands? Hands you say?  What in the world am I talking about - well I'll tell you.  I did some ink sketches of hands, and I felt like I absolutely totally must  show them to you, along with two really really good ones I found on Pinterest (as usual, Pinterest comes first).  Also, why not throw an R.M.S. part or two in there - a recipe for an awesome disaster post!  :) I mean like...wow.  Wow.  Click the link below to see more.

Noelle - Day 67 (Fashion Roundup)

Image
So I've saved some photos From Pinterest for our "Fashion Roundup" this week - lets see how many weeks I can actually keep this up.  Alrighty, so I have the photos, mainly nail designs, and then, yes, as promised, R.M.S. parts! How many of you noticed the update?  Hopefully all of you, since I completely re-did the color scene and all that stuff.  This is the fall version, I'll try to re-do it again in like November or something.  Actually, it will probably end up being earlier, because I can't resist messing with it sometimes. Down to business now...just click the link below!

Noelle - Day 62 (Wreck this Journal Again)

So our faithful author Jillian Invited me to jump in an join her awesome "Wreck this Journal Wednesdays" section!  Thank you, because I have a TON of pages just waiting to be shared.  If you have a Wreck this Journal, other authors, you can also join in on this. Speaking of which, I was thinking of adding two other weekly sections, but I'm not sure yet, so comment please!  Or email me, or something, with your opinion.  The sections in question: "Map Mondays" (where I would make map artwork and make tutorials out of them) and "Christ Arise Thursdays" (again, not certain.  This one's just an idea, not even in the rough draft stage yet).  Let me know what your opinion is, or if there is a weekly/monthly section that you want to see added! Click the link below to see my "Wreck this Journal Wednesday" photos, and then I'm outta here!
