Dear Adults (Epsidoe 6, pt 2) High School

Hey, all my lovely students! So I received some complaints that you don't have enough time to complete your homework? How can that be?  I only assigned a little bit.  Why haven't you completed it?  What do you mean you've been busy with other classes?  That's ridiculous, nobody could have assigned that much. ... Hey adults, welcome back to the ongoing saga of me being necessarily angry about various things teenagers have to deal with (and how we can all work together to fix the problem).  For the first time in Dear Adults history, I'm doing a two parter, so if you're not up to date, be sure to read part one before continuing on.  You're going to need it, because today I am taking my saltiness to a level that would make Lot's wife jealous and talking about high school. If the last post was tl;dr, I walked you through your new life: struggling through the convoluted subjects that high school teaches!  But remember, classes are only half t...

Dear Adults (Episode 6, pt 1) High School

Image
Hey y'all Dear Adults?  Back to a blog near you.  Today’s subject?  High school.  Intro?  Done. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental.  Some content is exaggerated or hyperbolic for humorous purposes. To whom it won't concern: high school.  Adults love to talk about high school.  They love to romanticize it, actually, as you can see by the literal hundreds of novels and movies set in high schools so fictional that there aren't teenagers having a stress-related breakdown in the hallways and all those confusing, hormonal teenagers (played by adults in their mid-twenties, of course) are placed in lovely clique boxes so the general audience can understand them better. I talked last week in my post "Rage Poem" that what I say doesn't make a true difference in the world (it’s not as emo as it sounds).  If not making a difference and being ignored sounds fun to you though, please...

My Recent Discoveries

Image
If y'all know anything about me You know that I spend wayyyy too much time wandering the internet like a lost soul in search of new things (usually when I just got on my laptop to work on my book draft but that's besides the point)   I've actually discovered a lot of cool things recently, and while I could share them in their own induvidual posts, I'm going to just dump them all in this post and hope for the best.  :D This is probably going to be a longer post, so let's get right to it! Let's talk blogs. This may surprise you, but I don't actually follow that many blogs.  I'm a sucker for the nerdy goodness slash geek girl therapy network that is EPBOT , and anybody whose gone back through my cringy old blog knows that I used to be absolutely in love with Sea of Shoes .  Not really my thing anymore, but if you like drooling over pretty clothes (and sO MANY SHOES) then that is for sure the way to go.  Anyway, beyond those two, I don't talk abou...

Kids These Days (Episode 6)

Image
Hey. I'm grumpy today. You want to know why?  Kids.  I actually saw a kid today, probably a group of those hormonal teenagers having a good time (tsk!) and they did something that I would have NEVER done when I was their age!! Which is... right now.  I am one of those pesky kids and I do not tolerate adults degrading and undermining teenagers, as all of you know from my various posts.  If you haven't read them yet, here you go, episodes 1-5, go read them: Episode 1  (These are  the best years of your life) Episode 2  (Phones) Episode 3  (What do you want to be when you grow up?) Boobs Episode 5 (Relationships) Alright, welcome to Episode 6!  I started drafting this after one too many high school teachers used the phrase, 'kids these days' (or something to that effect) and I realized I would love nothing more than to take that teacher by the shoulders...smile and be ever-so-prissy and polite... And scream, "WHAT'S SO WRONG WITH B...

Conversation is Sin

Hey everybody! Hope school is treating y'all well :)  I just started this week and I've already face-desked multiple times, cried over homework, and decided that humanity is stupid in general.  But don't worry, I think that you're cool :) So I was digging through old files and discovered a poem I wrote ages and ages ago, inspired by A.R.'s post "Society Has Confused Me" , which is totally worth a read.  Mine's a bit different, it's more of a poem I'd say, and you guys know that I suck at poetry.  However, I did my best with this, I finished it off and added some final touches, and here it is! Conversation is Sin We live in a world where conversation is sin Can’t speak outside the box we choose to live in If others are oppressing us then why don’t we attack Because we know the demons inside Would take us as their snack If our eyesight fails We blame it on the glasses Our politicians are blind Yet They still lead the ma...

I'm Feeling Blood Thirsty (Episode 5!)

Image
Hey guys! It's Noelle.  In case you confused me with the other authors, who haven't been posting (*glares at JJ*) ...anyway. I had a lot of options for today's post, including (though most certainly not limited to): -the Giant City RV trip that I Went on months ago and still havne't posted about, and it's partially drafted and floating around on blogger like it owns the place -the STL adventures I promised last week -the Waco adventures I promised last week -literally any post that I promised to do and never wrote -a post talking about the novella I recently finished -a post talking about the short story I'm working on right now called Reality Shift -literally I had so many options ....nahhhhhh.  Let's be a bit more....spontaneous!  Yeah, spontaneous (and-totally-not-too-lazy-to-write-out-those-super-long-professional-posts-no-not-at-all)  Today, I'm feeling spontaneous and....bloodthirsty. Ehehehehe. Y'all know what that means.  Let...

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

Image
Hey everybody! Amelia here (oh yeah thats my name by the way) with another of those favorites posts. This one's gonna be a bit different though...so hang in there, yeah? Alright, lets do this! 1. My favorite time; Sunset, when everything is in shades of pink and orange and purple, painting the sky in a different sort of beauty every day. The stars are barely visible, and the sun is this great big ball of light thats hard on the eyes but soft on the heart. The moon is orange, like a mandarin, small and shadowy and real enough that i think it could fit in the palm of my hand if i just reached out . But I don't, and that's okay. The moon deserves the sky, not a cage of pianist fingers. 2. My favorite animal(s); I have two favorites right now. The first? A bearded dragon. I'm not normally a fan of reptiles, but my family recently got one, and he's adorable. His name's Rango and he looks dangerous but is really sweet in reality. His spikes are actually soft and...

Wonder Woman (bc you know imma gonna nit pick)

Image
Hello! KitKat the demon cat has this new food and she's not only refusing to eat it but taking it out on us in the form of guilt-inducing, big-eyed stares and knocking anything and everything off of tables and bookshelves. In other news, Wonder Woman came out! Yup, hello, it's Noelle, and before you even start, I know that most of my nit picking is usually reserved for Marvel and whatever Chris they crank out of that secret, super-hero-actor farm they have hidden away.  BUT NOPE.  I decided to go see Wonder Woman, mostly because Mom wanted to see it and I like giving movies (and their companies) second chances. *awkward silence as I look passive agressively at Man of Steel* Anywho, I actually legitimately liked this movie.  So I thought I'd break it down for you in my NOT spoiler-free review.  Yeah, if you want to be spoiler free...this is not the place to be.  Sowwy.  ONWARDS, BRETHERN!! I did some art work of Wonder Woman the day after see...

So I Disappeared for Awhile... Here's Why - Kathleen

Image
Hi Guys So most of you have probably noticed that I haven' posted since early February. There's a lot of reasons for this. One of them was that my grandma just passed away. I never thought that would ever happen but when they visited last, I had a feeling that it was going to be the last time I saw her. It was. The other reason is that because I was gone a lot of January I ended up being very behind on school. I had like 5 papers to write and regular school to get caught up on. I'm getting all A's so I guess I do have a little wiggle room, but I need to get A's. The other, biggest reason is because I have stress attacks. Some of you know about this some of you don't. I guess this is me opening up about something that has been very difficult for me to talk about mainly because I feel like people will just pass it off as me trying to be special or me making a big deal about my life. If you know me, you will know that that isn't how I role. So here goes. I...

Noelle - Boobs

Before I begin, I need to throw in the small side note that this is a Dear Adults post, episode four in fact.  This is not like my normal Dear Adults posts, but it has that same sort of angry sarcasm that you people seem to love.  I didn't put that in the title, however, because the title is...important.  You'll see why in a sec. Before I really get started, let's discuss: why did you click on this post?  No really, why?  Maybe you haven't clicked on it, in which case, you should...because reasons.  But really...why did this post, out of the thousands on the internet and the several weekly posts on this particular blog, catch your eye and make you go, "huh, good reading material."  Chances are, even if you are reading this, you're a little uncomfortable. "Noelle, you usually keep it PG and blah blah don't be crude," you say. "Shut up and keep reading," I snap, because I'm writing a Dear Adults post here and ain't no o...

Noelle - Messy Theorizing

Image
Hiya! So I promised something messy this week, and messy I shall provide...Messy Marvel, that is. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s alright, don’t feel bad.  I know we just got a lot of new readers recently, so here is a quick description:  when I say Messy Marvel, I’m referring to a book series that I wrote, a.k.a. RMS.  (In case you were wondering, RMS just means Random Marvel-based Story)  That’s what I originally called it and it sorta just stuck)  I have a tendency to shamelessly advertise, so if you don’t want to read it, that’s cool, but if you do, I think you’re pretty dang cool and let me know in the comments.  If you haven’t decided, well, here’s a brief description: A group of teenaged superheroes have a new and very different kind of hero added to their ranks.  Follow this mysterious girl from age fourteen onward as she faces challenges with her team - but who among them is really trustworthy?  And who is hid...

March for Life and Faith Vloggy Bloggy- Kathleen

Image
I don't actually know when I last posted.... 2 weeks ago?? Anyways, I'm back, hopefully for a while. I'm not planning on making any surprise trips anywhere for the next couple of months. So I'm doing a Vloggy Bloggy today, as you can see by the title. I could be a bit long so lets just get started. I took a class early on Tuesday morning and then we picked up the boys to drive for two whole days from Swansea, IL, to Manassas, VA. I'm sure they were thrilled to be spending all that time with us in a car. We drove all day, then stopped in Lexington, KY overnight. We slept super well, the beds were really comfy. And although we didn't bring swimwear, the pool there was HUGE! Maybe 50 meters!  But their workout room was actually kind of funny. In the pictures, they had all this cool stuff, but in real life, they had a treadmill. That was it... kind of a let down because I was TOTALLY going to use it... right? Anyways, we hit the road again the next day after...

Noelle - Artist Smackdown starts...NOW

Hi y'all! You probably read the title and thought, "Noelle what are you going to beat up an artist?  Did I accidentally walk in on a secret artist fight club?  Is this even the right blog??"  Okay, maybe not those  exact  words, and I WILL explain the title...as some point.  Maybe. Anywho, I have a lot planned for today, so might as well go ahead and get started.  This is sort of a Dear Adults, though not really.  It's also kickstarting a series of blog posts I hope will actually help people, including artist basics, tutorials, etc.  Idk how many there will be or how much I'll cover, but throw all that aside for now, because currently, I'm just going to dispel a myth about artists (ah, my favorite thing to do when I'm in a firey mood) and also, if you stick around to the end of this post, I'm going to be talking about my new writing project! Okay, so let's get started.  The victim of my sarcastic quips today is this phrase, often co...

Noelle - Dear Adults (Episode 3)

Hi guys! Just a small foot note before I start the rant discussion:  I know that in the previous episode ( link ), I said that I was going to talk about grades the next episode, but a couple days later I ended up writing a super awesome episode which both of my parents approved of, so that's what I'm posting today.  Also, I won't be posting a whole bunch Dear Adults episodes, I promise, next week I should  be talking what the heck I've been up to lately :P  Alright, let's move on!  Whooooooo's ready?  I AM. What do you want to be when you grow up? The first time I wrote a Dear Adults letter...episode...thingie (uh...?), it was about the phrase, ‘these are the best years of your life, so enjoy ‘em’.   Shudder .  As all of you know, I utterly ripped that phrase to shreds, pointing out how incredibly insulting it was, no matter the interpretation.  It was pretty popular, probably because I went to town on it and was aggressive, sarcas...
