Society has confused me. How is it that, When a woman is hurt by a man it is assault, Yet when it is a woman hurting a man it is punishment? How is it that, when a woman covers her hair she is dangerous, But a woman that shows her skin is a disgrace? How is it that, in school we learn lessons, On mathematics and english, But life teaches up better words, better equations? How is it that. the pigment in our skin, Which we are but unable to control, Controls our daily lives more influentially than, Our leader? How is it that, People cry when their blood dies, Yet can turn and scream, “Murder!”, At someone who believe in a god, different than the one that they hold sacred? Society has confused me, With their twisted, backwards ways. It has taught me lessons that should not be taught.
