Noelle - Artist Smackdown starts...NOW

Hi y'all! You probably read the title and thought, "Noelle what are you going to beat up an artist?  Did I accidentally walk in on a secret artist fight club?  Is this even the right blog??"  Okay, maybe not those  exact  words, and I WILL explain the title...as some point.  Maybe. Anywho, I have a lot planned for today, so might as well go ahead and get started.  This is sort of a Dear Adults, though not really.  It's also kickstarting a series of blog posts I hope will actually help people, including artist basics, tutorials, etc.  Idk how many there will be or how much I'll cover, but throw all that aside for now, because currently, I'm just going to dispel a myth about artists (ah, my favorite thing to do when I'm in a firey mood) and also, if you stick around to the end of this post, I'm going to be talking about my new writing project! Okay, so let's get started.  The victim of my sarcastic quips today is this phrase, often co...

Update on life - Madison

Image
Hey!      Its been a really, really long time since I've posted, and I have alot to update you on. So buckled up and sit tight for this long post.      November 22, 2016 I moved....again. Leaving the place that was my home for a year to move to Maryland. I've lived in Maryland once before so it wasn't a huge shock while moving. When we got to church it was like we never left, it was awesome. The reason we moved is because my dad changed jobs again. He retired from the military in June of 2015, so no more moving becuase of the miliary. He ended up sort of coming back into the military. I have no idea what he does now, a contractor for the government or something. But I was able to come into his work and actually see his office, so those who have a parent in the military knows what I'm talking about. I think I have only ever seen 3 of my dad's work. In my 16 years of life, and all the 13ish different times he changed work spaces...only3. Anyways....we move...

IBFS New Writer! -Emma

Hello everyone! I am a new writer on International BFFs! I'm so excited to be here, you don't even know! So you're probably wondering who I am... My name is Emma and I am 15 years old (but turning 16 next week!). I've known Noelle for about 6 months now, and finally decided to take part in the craziness that is blogging. I know a few of the other writers here in person, Kathleen, Carly, and Clarissa.  You may know me from my other blog that I run with Kathleen, Two Dorks With a Blog. I also have another blog, Life According to Emma. I had wanted to start blogging for a long time, but once I met Noelle, she definitely inspired me to start.  Some more things about me... -I'm am homeschooled! I go to an online high school called James Madison High School. I love it so much, and wouldn't have it any other way. -I attended "traditional school" until 9th grade. -I'm an only child, so life at home can get a bit boring sometimes...

Here's the Plan... Kind of... Sort of... Maybe... - Kathleen

Hi guys! I hope you have been nice to Carly, I see you have put her on the favorites list. So thank you for giving her a warm welcome! I know I have been gone for a while, and I am going to be gone next week too (Whoops never told Noelle... *nervous laughing*) but after that the blogging game will be upped. I'm going to DC for the March for Life (No, I won't force my faith's beliefs on you, but if you want to talk, Ima be straight with you) and my schools dance. It's going to be great. So I'm thinking about doing a Vloggy-Bloggy (That's what it is going to be called, those vloggy posts that we couldn't find a name for) of the dance over on Two Dorks with a Blog and then the overall photo-bucket of the whole week. We are staying there from Tuesday to Tuesday (Jan 24 - Jan 31) and then heading back. For my February posts, I have a few ideas, but they are all going to be pretty chill and relaxed. I might switch them out if I get any requests (*cough cough...

Noelle - Tips

Image
Hi guys! I was planning on a doing an art tutorial/beginner's course today, but I decided this was more important.  Because...everybody should be a happy blogger.  Especially my children here at IBFs.  *pat pat* There there, Momma Noelle will stop nagging you now.  Maybe. (Note: I am not trying to sound famous or fabulous or anything in this post.  I just have experience with blogging and want to put it to use) I have a lot of friends with blogs and sometimes they come to me for advice, or just tech issues in general.  Here is my list of advice you'll need to be a happy blogger. :D - Remember, you don't have to post every week.  I wouldn't say you  shouldn't , but if you don't post regularly at first but have  quality content  in your blog, people will look forward to your every word, no matter how delayed. - Flip side: don't forget that your blog does exist.  A blog only works if you keep up with it. - Repeat after m...

Hi guys! I'm so excited to be blogging here for you all! Like you have no idea! Wait oh yeah, excuse my rudeness... you may be wondering who I am and I get it! So yes, my name is Carly. I am 15 years old, and I am a sophomore in high school! Crazy right? Well... you might not think so. Oh yeah, that's something that you should know about me, I tend to literally write my random thoughts into the blog and somehow they are there when I publish? Weird right? Well... you might not think so... huh? Oh sorry. I get carried away. I'm the youngest of 5 other brothers and sisters, and guess what? I'm adopted! Hmm... now that I mention that I should probably add that to my blog... oops :P My Family (Although it's missing my oldest brother because he took this one) Also for safety purposes, I didn't show their faces. Some things that I like to do would be blogging of course! That's one of my favorite things to do. I do have a blog called, DintPhotos . Feel f...

Well That's a First!! - Kathleen

Hi. I'm back. Sorry for the disappearance, I really hope you didn't send out a search party. I've been in New Hampshire for the past week. My grandma died so we went up for her funeral. Your prayers, thoughts, and condolences are greatly appreciated. This post is going to be a bit different, kind of like a story-time. So just stick with me. So on Wednesday, January 4th, we had a flight out of St. Louis to Baltimore at 8:30 am. We got to the airport on time, thanks to the help of our friends. They got up super early (like 5 am) to drive us so we all good to go. Our flight out to Baltimore went well, there were some cool clouds. We caught our connection to Manchester and drove up to my grandpa's house. Everything went well, we had great weather. The adventure started on the way back, yesterday. Our flight out of Manchester was set for 4:10 pm, so there was really no way we could miss the flight of our own fault. My family left my grandpa's h...

Noelle - Creativity + Post-Dead Week Ramblings

Image
Hi guys! For those of you who don't know, I attend an online academy that fondly refers to our exam week as "Mostly Dead but not All Dead Week" (better known as Dead Week).  During this lovely week, there are no classes, only exams and essays and a swamping sea of stress, usually on late Thursday-all day Friday as you realize quite how much school work you put off literally to the last second.  *sigh* Anyway, but beyond my once-impending doom, I've also been busy creativity wise, doing pretty much everything...except RMS.  Also, a fond note to all who are nagging me about that:  Stop.  I hear you, and I'm still working on it in my head, and having felt the inspiration needed to keep working on it. Luckily, this is me, Noelle, that we're talking about, the girl with a thousand hobbies, so I haven't been idle.  (Mom in the other room: HAH!)  ...thanks.  Anyway, as most of you know I got Adobe Creative Cloud for Christmas, which is like all the ...

Jay - Ah, Yes, Paint Tool SAI....

Image
Hello, hello, hello! How's your day been? I hope it's been alright, 'cus over here we've been snowed in. I hate the snow, so I've been huddled up watching OUAT and Stranger Things. And eating tubs of ice cream...all in all, a very lazy day. So recently, I got a graphic design tablet. Normally I used my kindle to draw, but using a graphic tablet is so much easier, Y'all have no idea. It's beauty. Noelle also has a tablet, but she uses Adobe to paint. I use Paint Tool SAI, which is complicated and annoying but also very fun when I'm actually trying. So, today, for a lazy post, I thought I would just pop in and show off some of my recent art pieces. *Makes a Will Smith pose* TADA! This was actually my first piece on SAI! :D

Noelle - 2016 Reflections & 2017 Goals

Hiya! I know I JUST said in the last post I wasn't going to be posting as much now but I was reading through some of my older posts and favorite blogs and was like 'huh.  Maybe I should do one of these posts, make it sound like I actually have New Years goals or something' (I learned long ago is that New Years goals never work out.  *shrug*) So what was my year like? I wouldn't say this was the easiest  year.  A lot of things happened, especially over the summer.  But I'm getting ahead of myself.  Where was I at, New Years 2016? I was in New Jersey, convincing my friends that starting a separate blog for Steve wasn't going to be a bad idea (really!).  We were around day 200 of the 365 Days challenge, which was fun but oh thank you Lord it's over.  THANK YOU.  (we're still living with the scars here at IBFs)

Noelle - hi.

Prepare for rambling. I am a stubborn person who refuses to give up something unless it's absolutely 100% necessary and I'm crumbling from stress.  I am a stubborn person who is more willing to drop social life and going out with my friends if it means I can get a few more hours of work in.  I am a stubborn person  who hates abandoning anything, especially something that's precious and important to me. And now that I've scared the heck out of you, relax.  I'm not abandoning IBFs, lol, never.  I am, however, going to slow down a bit and take a break, because I've been a little uptight and there's no reason for me to be!  Yeah, I love blogging, but if I have nothing to blog, there's no point in trying to force creativity out of myself. Anyway, what have I been up to lately? Mostly lazing around the house and doing nothing important, except playing around with my new drawing programs and writing.  LOTS of writing. *RMS fans grumbling in the dist...
