I’m running. Primal instincts kick in.  Whoever was in front of me isn’t anymore.  I can feel the wind in my ears, the screams behind me, the fear in the village.  I can’t do anything for them.  So I keep on running. Eventually, my heart stops pounding, and my breath evens out.  My pace gets to be more regular.  I land each step like my life depends on it.  I can’t hear the screaming anymore.  The ground beneath my feet is no longer sandy.  There are leaves scattered everywhere.
