Jay - Yo, Whats Up?

Image
Hey, dudes. I'm back for the New Year! Yay! First off, I am so so sorry for not being on for the past two months. I go to public school, unlike all the other bloggers on this blog, so I don't have as much free time to post about random stuff. (Not saying that homeschoolers have it easy; they don't) Also, with Christmas and other events, I've been buried under a mound of crap that I just now was able to escape from. Other than that apology, one more thing: I may not post as much as before. School's important right now, as I start high school next year, and I need to focus on that too. And my art, which is the most important thing to me right now. Blogging used to be number one on my list, but now it's really far down under a bunch of other stuff. So please, don't get mad if I'm not spamming y'all with posts every other day, okay? Alright, so now that that is taken care of, I can get down to business (TO DEFEAT, THE HUNS!!). My old posts ...

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Hope you have an amazing, spectacular, God-filled, awesome, snowy, lovely Christmas this holiday season!  And that's all I have to say.  Go spend time with your family!

Merry Christmas!!! - Kathleen

Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukah! Whatever your religion may be (even no religion) I wish you the happiness and blessings of the season! Today is going to be very quick, and very short, because today is a family day. All I want you to do is to watch this video. It's amazing, powerful, and just inspiring. Noelle - Ignored Super Powers

Hi! I know, I know.  I said I was going to take requests for December's posts, but I'm backing out of that deal because I put off writing my posts + had ideas for both this week and next week.  And I think after Christmas, I'm just going to...fade off into the distance...and take a break.  That's okay, right?  Right. Anyway, today, we're talking about super powers.  Specially super powers that would be super  awesome, but nobody thinks of, because they're all busy being like "I want to teleport", "I want to fly", "I want to be able to turn invisible."  NO.  STOP.  YOU DO NOT.  So yeah!  Here's my list of super awesome, yet mostly ignored super powers: 1. The ability to communicate with/control birds.   Ant Man step aside, your little ant army is ridiculous.  I want a owl army. Reason it's awesome:  Birds are everywhere - over the ocean, at both poles, in the desert, in the jungle, in cities, in caves...you ...

Just a Little Chat - Kathleen

Image
Hi guys! How are you? I'm good. So I didn't plan anything for today, which is kind of nice, because now we can just sit down and have a chat! I haven't done that since August! So I've been going to Christmas concerts and recitals lately. At our Masterworks concert, there were 800 people. I didn't think that many people could fit inside the church we were at, but apparently it was standing room only. We got a standing ovation. Christine Brewer sang with us, and I was over the moon. I was literally in tears. One of the families in our homeschooling group is moving soon, I think the movers are coming the 27th, which is a bit of a bummer because they have some little ones who won't get to enjoy the Christmas presents. So I went to their going away party yesterday and I'm also going to "hang out with/chaperone" their daughter, my sister, and their friends at the mall on Friday because they are doing a scavenger hunt. I've always wanted to do o...

Get Ready with Me - Kathleen

Image
I'm going to be honest with you, I completely forgot about this until just now. 😞😶😓😕 How are you? I'm doing really well. Yesterday, I had a concert (I sing) and we got to sing with Christine Brewer. If you don't know who she is, go search her. I highly recommend you try and find O Holy Night by her. I was in tears by the end of it. The process for getting ready is actually pretty simple, but it takes a long time. Get Ready with Me videos are pretty popular on YouTube, so I thought I would try something along those lines in a blog post! Lets get to it! So the first thing I did was my nails. In our concerts, everything has to be pretty natural, and my nails were painted copper. I don't think that's the most natural thing, so I switched it to Mademoiselle by Essie. I talked about this in My Nail Polish Collection and Ranting about Essie , so I won't say anything about it here. It doesn't show up well on camera, but it is a nice, milky pink.

Noelle - This is Me

Image
Hi y'all! Side note to the people who don't like reading my super long, boring text posts: there'll be an art tutorial (sorta) at the end of the post, so there.  Have some fun artsy content. Okay, intro, right.  Um, hi!  Today I'm going to be doing a list/description of myself, because...well, when I was writing last Saturday's post , which was also super long and boring, I realized that a lot of times the way I am online doesn't really match up with who I am in person.  Not to the extreme that I lie or fabricate stuff to sound cooler, but just I don't say everything.  Which is okay! But today I thought I'd do a list called "Things I Don't Really Talk About", but since I know me and know that I'll wander off on tangents, I'm just calling it "This is Me", and I think I'll probably link it to my profile on the Authors page . Sooo...hi!

Christmas Candles and a Little Self - Promo - Kathleen

Image
Hi all.... So school started again... Boy howdy I was not ready for the tsunami that hit me... So I know y'all love these posts (sarcasm) but I have another review for you. These might not be the favorite, but we will make you love it. Or I could just move it over to another blog I'm on 😛 More on that later. So it's December! The Christmas posts are coming in full force! Christmas Break is almost upon us! New Years! My sisters birthday! Basically. this month is going to be a month full of me squealing because Christmas is my favorite holiday for obvious reasons. Candles are one of them. Christmas candles are something that will automatically make me happy. So I'm going to do a review post on all the Christmas candles I have. Which is six. So lets do it. Lets start with Yankee Candle. Everyone knows the smell of Christmas trees. This Balsam and Cedar candle pretty much nails it. The thing about Yankee Candles though, is that every candle smells a little diff...

Noelle - Update On Life and Christmas-y Stuff

Image
Hi everybody! I've got a lot of material to cover in one blog post, because I'm a terrible procrastinator who puts off everything from essays that could literally cause me to fail my entire course and potentially not allow me into college to blog posts that I enjoy and love to create, and I've been putting off writing posts that actually talk about stuff I'm interested in and just...yeah.  I don't even need an intro, that was an intro all in one go. Okay, so. Update On Life: I used to do all kinds of interesting things, like, I dunno, What My Life Is Like posts and just interesting little tidbits like that (that's literally just a random link to my old blog)  I'd say that changed when International BFFs started up, because more people were viewing it and it wasn't exactly a personal blog anymore.  Not that anybody would be mad at me for doing more personal posts, and I don't really feel the need to do personal posts anymore, but idk.  Sometim...

Cahokia Mounds and Christmas Market - Kathleen

Image
Good morning! Good afternoon! Good night to you! I dont' know when you are reading this... so yeah... How are you? Did you have a good Thanksgiving? I hope you stuffed yourself silly and then realized what a bad idea that was. I know I was waddling around until I fell asleep... So I have another vloggy-post for you. On Black Friday, my sister, my mom, and I went to Cahokia Mounds (more later) and went to the Lighting of the Christmas tree and opening of the Christmas Market in downtown Belleville, IL. It was super cool. So, as you can see, in Fairmont City, (where Cahokia Mounds is) fall is almost over. The leaves are all gone. I took several panoramas because it was such a cool spot for it. You could really see everywhere. We could even see St. Louis. Which isn't surprising because you can see STL from a church right near my house. So history on Cahokia Mounds. Cahokia Mounds is a preservation of the mounds of an ancient Indian race. The Indian central city...

Jillian - A Quick Update

Image
Hey hey! This is just a quick update post on what I'm planning for the next few posts or so. Don't fear Christmas posts on the way! OCD Person: "Wait! You forgot about Thanksgiving!" ...Yeah, my family doesn't really do anything big for Thanksgiving, except our Pie Competition, which nobody came to...   Christmas posts include some - DIY's, decoration tours, ASL interpretations, and possibly a video of my Christmas play... I don't have everything figured out, I just wanted to post an update so you didn't think I died.   (SIDE NOTE: The witty vocab is leaving my post at this time, and might not be back so... :SIDE NOTE OVER)    Bye!

Noelle - Dear Adults (Episode 3)

Hi guys! Just a small foot note before I start the rant discussion:  I know that in the previous episode ( link ), I said that I was going to talk about grades the next episode, but a couple days later I ended up writing a super awesome episode which both of my parents approved of, so that's what I'm posting today.  Also, I won't be posting a whole bunch Dear Adults episodes, I promise, next week I should  be talking what the heck I've been up to lately :P  Alright, let's move on!  Whooooooo's ready?  I AM. What do you want to be when you grow up? The first time I wrote a Dear Adults letter...episode...thingie (uh...?), it was about the phrase, ‘these are the best years of your life, so enjoy ‘em’.   Shudder .  As all of you know, I utterly ripped that phrase to shreds, pointing out how incredibly insulting it was, no matter the interpretation.  It was pretty popular, probably because I went to town on it and was aggressive, sarcas...

Meme's Cranberries - Kathleen

Oh my heavens look what's almost here! Thanksgiving! It's my favorite holiday! You can eat without being judged! Yahoo! OK. So. As you can tell from the title, this is going to be a recipe. It's gonna be good. So my Meme (short for the French Memere which means Grandma) is the best cook ever. I'm pretty sure Gordon Ramsey would be cool eating my Meme's food. She makes cranberries with her Thanksgiving dinner, and I have kind of taken on the cranberry making role in our house. So I thought I would share the recipe with you! First, you need to gather all your ingredients. 4 cups cranberries 2 cups sugar 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 13 oz. jar orange marmalade 3 tablespoons lemon juice 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional) Now it's time to put it together. Mix your cranberries, sugar, and cinnamon together in a bowl. Put this sticky mess in a 9 inch pan with tin foil over the top. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes. After taking it out of the o...

Noelle - Dear Adults (Episode 2)

Hi guys! It’s Noelle, of course.  And as you MAY (just might have) guessed from the title, I’m doing another Dear Adults episode today!  Hopefully this one is as interesting as the previous one, which you can read here . Alright, the subject of today’s Dear Adults episode is: we are an electronic generation.  What’s the big deal? To clarify what I mean, I’ll give a little example: this blog.  It’s completely electronic, isn’t it?  That’s pretty much what a blog (or vlog) is - a completely electronic, creative platform that’s very popular.  Invented in 1997, this platform has appealed to many, many writers and artists (and stay-at-home moms) because of its openness and informality.

Holiday Traditions - Kathleen

Image
Hello readers! How are you? It's gotten really cold here... yesterday we were down to 28 degrees (Fahrenheit for those of you from other countries) So I love Christmas. Who doesn't. But I love everything about it. Giving people presents, shopping in the crowds of trampling people, driving in traffic, coming home exhausted (because then you get hot cocoa and classic Christmas movies). But the rest of my family doesn't. They only like the day of and the day before/after. My parents hate Christmas shopping. Now, my room is on the verge of getting very festive. I have Christmas lights and decorations all up in boxes waiting to come down and grace my room the their festive glow. So as a way of relieving some of this crazy Christmas-y-ness, I'm gonna share some traditions my family has. Nutcracker Ballet

Greetings from Clarissa!

Image
Me at the Vatican this last summer! Hey International BFF's! My name is Clarissa Skipworth and I come in peace. Noelle's asked me a couple times before to join in on blogging, but I've always declined because I'm so horrible at being consistent with posting. I apologize if I'm inconsistent; but, nevertheless, I'm finally here! I live in Belleville, Illinois currently, and my family and I have moved around 11 times, usually bouncing back and forth between the west and east coasts. (My dad works in the Air Force. In case that wasn't apparent.) Some of the other places we've lived include South Carolina, Virginia, Washington state, Oregon, Hawaii, and Pennsylvania. Plus, we will be moving this upcoming summer to who knows where. Hurrah! xD A little about me: I'm 16, I'm in 11th grade and I'm in Mother of Divine Grace, an online Catholic high

Noelle - An Update and An Apology

Image
Hi Everybody! Despite the fact that I said update before apology in the title, the apology comes first.  Because y'all deserve one.  Actually, lots of them. I'd say the major thing that I need to say is...well, I'm sorry.  I have a hard time remember that you, reading this blog post (and maybe even commenting), are a real person, and that you're more than just a view count.  I realized recently that I've just been looking at the numbers, instead of thinking, "Hey, this person went out of their way to read my blog post and I hope they liked it!"  Well, it shouldn't be that way...you guys are real people, and I'm blogging because I enjoy it, not because of the view count.  And I guess I'm apologizing because I forgot that. So yeah...I'm sorry. YOU THERE.  YEAH, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.  YOU'RE AN AWESOME HUMAN BEING. *is aggressively positive*

Jillian - A Terrifying Tuesday Post

Image
Hey hey! So this Halloween was... fun... Fun! Sure fun! I mean I went to a Halloween party that my youth group hosted and didn't know anybody there so a kind hearted teacher hung out with me, I handed out candy at a trunk-or-treat to kids I didn't know, and afterwards went to a Fall Fest at my church to volunteer with, you guessed it, people I don't know.... AND 80% OF THE PEOPLE I CAME IN CONTACT WITH DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHO I WAS!! Ok, it's ok, I'm calm, I'm calm... I know I'm complaining a lot, it was an okay Halloween, it just wasn't as fun without friends that weren't adults... I guess I'm having a bad day... Anyway, onto the post!

Movies I Love - Kathleen

Image
Hi! How was your Halloween? Mine was great!!!! I have compiled a list of the movies I will forever and always be down to watch. I love this movies. Some of them I have only seen once, some I don't know that much about, but I love them. Lets just get into the post because it could be a long one. Oh my Lord it's happened people, she's never gonna shut up... So yeah. This movie. I don't really know that much about it, but I can't even tell you how much I love Steggy. Like, oh my gosh. I don't know how I made it through the end of the movie without crying because they are PERFECT. *sigh* I'm gonna move on before I scream and then end up sitting here blubbering over Steggy stuff on Pinterest.... Fantastic Mr. Fox This is that movie I only watch once a year, because as much as I love it, it is kind of creepy. I mean look at him! Their mouths, and eyes, and Bogus, Bunce, and Bean are creepy guys! So yeah, it's a great story line, but it...

Noelle - Homeschooling Q&A!

Image
Hi guys! It’s Noelle (obviously :P ) and I...have no clue what to talk about today.  I think I said last week that I was going to talk about...*frantically checks* homeschooling??  What was I going to- OH.  Right.  *ahem* So today I was going to talk about what being a military homeschooler has taught me, and probably debunk some myths about homeschooling.  Having recently moved to a new location, I’ve been hanging out more with public schoolers than homeschoolers, and some seriously interesting questions that really surprised me, both from adults and kids*. (*I’d like to stress, before I even start, that my answers don’t apply to every homeschooler ever.  I’m not a spokesperson for the homeschoolers, nor do I claim to be.  There are always outliers who won’t act in the way I describe.  In general, remember that everybody is an individual and has their own personality, no matter the kind of education they have.  Alright, moving...
