My Recent Discoveries

Image
If y'all know anything about me You know that I spend wayyyy too much time wandering the internet like a lost soul in search of new things (usually when I just got on my laptop to work on my book draft but that's besides the point)   I've actually discovered a lot of cool things recently, and while I could share them in their own induvidual posts, I'm going to just dump them all in this post and hope for the best.  :D This is probably going to be a longer post, so let's get right to it! Let's talk blogs. This may surprise you, but I don't actually follow that many blogs.  I'm a sucker for the nerdy goodness slash geek girl therapy network that is EPBOT , and anybody whose gone back through my cringy old blog knows that I used to be absolutely in love with Sea of Shoes .  Not really my thing anymore, but if you like drooling over pretty clothes (and sO MANY SHOES) then that is for sure the way to go.  Anyway, beyond those two, I don't talk abou...

I'm Sorry (Emotional Crud + Funny Comics)

Image
Hey y'all! It's Noelle, back again with another fascinating post.  (Note that sarcasm on 'fascinating'.  Didn't hear it?  Better get your ears checked because it was loud as heck). Now, I know my posts are usually pretty lighthearted or...uh...bloodthirsty.... ( *sweats nervously* ) but today is going to be a but more personal and emotional that normal.  However!  The title was not clickbate!  There will be funny comics at the end to cheer you up, I promise.  So let's get started and get the emotional crud out of the way. A lot of people don't know about this, because I never talk about it or write about it, but it's something I want to say.  I'm... Pretty much a mess. "Haha aren't we all," I hear you muttering and you're probably right.  We all have our own personal struggles and everybody has demons that they must wrestle into submission every day.  For me, it's my own self worth and identity as a person, as a daughter of Go...

The Race Has Started!!!

Image
Hi guys!! It's Elena again!!! The Race just started! I will be explaining the games, and stuff, and spirit points, and other random stuff. It was wild. I have pictures!!! I will also be explaining that game. That one was my favorite. It's called American Eagle

The Mysteries of Harris Burdick

Image
Hello internet world. It's Elena, and I'm here to tell you about one of my favorite books. I will give you the introduction to the book so that you'll understand it, and then all the pictures. This is a writing prompt book before most writing prompts were found on the internet. This book is also a family favorite, I hope you enjoy the story. There are writing prompts for fiction writers, horror writers, and more. Each picture will have a caption underneath from the book. I hope you enjoy the post! Now, to Harris Burdick

The Race!!! -Elena

Image
Greetings from England! Elena here! Today I will be taking about something VERY special. It is called The Race, and it is a HUGE deal here at RAF Mildenhall and Lakenheth. It is not what you probably think it is. This is not a normal race. This is The Race. Not a foot race. Not something to see who is the fastest, or who comes first. This is a competition between four teams made up of the high school  Youth Group, and the middle school Youth Group. Team Green, Team Yellow, Team Blue, and Team Red. All made up of a mix of Highschoolers and Middleschoolers. I'm on the red team. :) They all compete with each other in various games, this is my first year and I'm not exactly sure on what all they do, but it looks very interesting. Last night we did the Race Lottery, which is when you find out what team you're on. We (my brother and I), got there late so there wasn't any seating room for us, so we just stood there. we had to turn in our Race regis...

Hi People!!!

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't been posting but we've been really busy lately. For those who don't know I just moved to England. It's a pretty good place but I'm still missing NJ. We've been here for about two months, and now we live at this one story house (which is rare in England) on the edge of this adorable little countryside village. There are horse farms within walking distance from our house.  The things I miss doing the most are Drama Lamas (my drama group) and Sod Squad (my 4-H club). We are slowly settling in. My Youth Group (Camps Life) has this thing that they do every summer called The Race, though it's not a foot race (more on that in a different post). That's all for now, today was really crazy. We just moved in and my room is filled with boxes. I don't have any pictures of England to show you now, but I will post some later. :D sorry for the really short post. Love ya guys! Stay awesome!!!

March for Life and Faith Vloggy Bloggy- Kathleen

Image
I don't actually know when I last posted.... 2 weeks ago?? Anyways, I'm back, hopefully for a while. I'm not planning on making any surprise trips anywhere for the next couple of months. So I'm doing a Vloggy Bloggy today, as you can see by the title. I could be a bit long so lets just get started. I took a class early on Tuesday morning and then we picked up the boys to drive for two whole days from Swansea, IL, to Manassas, VA. I'm sure they were thrilled to be spending all that time with us in a car. We drove all day, then stopped in Lexington, KY overnight. We slept super well, the beds were really comfy. And although we didn't bring swimwear, the pool there was HUGE! Maybe 50 meters!  But their workout room was actually kind of funny. In the pictures, they had all this cool stuff, but in real life, they had a treadmill. That was it... kind of a let down because I was TOTALLY going to use it... right? Anyways, we hit the road again the next day after...

Noelle - Creativity + Post-Dead Week Ramblings

Image
Hi guys! For those of you who don't know, I attend an online academy that fondly refers to our exam week as "Mostly Dead but not All Dead Week" (better known as Dead Week).  During this lovely week, there are no classes, only exams and essays and a swamping sea of stress, usually on late Thursday-all day Friday as you realize quite how much school work you put off literally to the last second.  *sigh* Anyway, but beyond my once-impending doom, I've also been busy creativity wise, doing pretty much everything...except RMS.  Also, a fond note to all who are nagging me about that:  Stop.  I hear you, and I'm still working on it in my head, and having felt the inspiration needed to keep working on it. Luckily, this is me, Noelle, that we're talking about, the girl with a thousand hobbies, so I haven't been idle.  (Mom in the other room: HAH!)  ...thanks.  Anyway, as most of you know I got Adobe Creative Cloud for Christmas, which is like all the ...

Noelle - Homeschooling Q&A!

Image
Hi guys! It’s Noelle (obviously :P ) and I...have no clue what to talk about today.  I think I said last week that I was going to talk about...*frantically checks* homeschooling??  What was I going to- OH.  Right.  *ahem* So today I was going to talk about what being a military homeschooler has taught me, and probably debunk some myths about homeschooling.  Having recently moved to a new location, I’ve been hanging out more with public schoolers than homeschoolers, and some seriously interesting questions that really surprised me, both from adults and kids*. (*I’d like to stress, before I even start, that my answers don’t apply to every homeschooler ever.  I’m not a spokesperson for the homeschoolers, nor do I claim to be.  There are always outliers who won’t act in the way I describe.  In general, remember that everybody is an individual and has their own personality, no matter the kind of education they have.  Alright, moving...

Jillian - A Tuesday Test

Image
Hey hey! Recently, I've been challenged to the "Answer Questions about Myself Challenge," soooooooooooo here it is! It's not like I've done something like this before... ( Jillian - A Tidings-Filled Tuesday ) twice... ( 50 Random Things About Me ) Onto the post!

DIY Notebooks!! - Kathleen

Image
OK everybody, I hope you are having a great week! I, personally, have been super excited for today. Since school is starting soon, I thought I would share something I have been doing for a few years now. I like to decorate my school supplies in cute scrapbook paper. Some of my friends have asked me how to do it, so I'm going to show you how! Supplies: Spiral Notebook Scrapbook Paper Solid Color Printer Paper Graph Paper Liquid Glue Ruler Pencil Black Marker/Pen Directions: Trace your scrapbook paper to fit the notebook and cut it out. Then squeeze glue all over the front cover. Lay the paper down on top and use your ruler to push any air bubbles out. This is what it should look like now. 2. Write the title of your notebook (i.e. Math, English etc.) on the graph paper and cut it out, leaving a little room around it. 3. Trace around the graph paper on the colored printer paper, leaving about a centimeter of border. Cut it out and glue t...

Noelle - Day 281 (Life Currently)

Image
HIIIIIIII EVERYBODY!! How are you on this fantabulous Tuesday?  It is Tuesday, right? *frantically checks and makes sure I don't have the date wrong* Okay, yeah.  Fantabulous Tuesday. So I realized I haven't really given you guys a good update on my life in who knows how long.  Therefore...update on life! School has been a bit stressful lately, between Dead Week (3rd Quarter Exams are killer y'all) and trying to juggle my increasingly demanding hobbies (writing, blogging, 4-H, etc.) with my also demanding responsibilities.  My dad just left on a 10 week school trip (military kids know what I'm talking about) and so it's just my mom, my grandmother (say hi MawMaw!) and I chilling in the house. Although grey days are never fun, they do have fantastic sunsets...which is why I love late winter/early spring (Mom:  SHUSH YOU'RE GOING TO JINX IT)

Noelle - Day 273 (Babysitting Nightmares)

Image
Hi guys! It's Noelle, blogger, artist, writer, and apparently, teen babysitter as well. Happy Monday!!  I hope y'all don't have school this week (I don't :P) Hopefully, this is not you today.  Hopefully you are bright and happy. Actual post:  Today was an early Saturday (unfortunately, this will not post on a Saturday, making it sound like I need several more cups of coffee, but in truth I'm just posting it today.  I swear I'm not too  crazy)  Anyway so today was an early Saturday, where Mom made me drag my carcass out of bed at eight o'clock in the morning, if you can believe that. Anyway, once I had stumbled downstairs and considered for the 398th time that maybe I should try drinking actual coffee and not caffeine-free tea, it was time.  The day I had been dreading since I had agreed to sign up.   Volunteering at the church.   Babysitting.  Why.

Jillian - Day 266 (The 2016 Masquerade Ball Pictures)

Image
Hey hey! I don't have a ton of time (like 5 minutes) because my mom is bringing us to an unknown location, but... Every year the homeschool group has a dance. The first year was a christmas theme, the second was a spring theme, and this year was masquerade ball themed... so here are the pictures for that night :)

Noelle - Day 237 (Online Schools)

Image
Helllooooooo my peoples! How are you on this fabulous day?  Good?  Not so much?  Well, I hope you're great.  Speaking of my peoples, where are my fellow bloggers?  Not that I've been the only poster for a while, but I've fallen behind and help I can't get up.  :) Anyway, I promised something interesting today...and failed miserably.  I'm just gonna talk about what it's like to be an online homeschooler.  And stuff.  Randomness.  Tell you what, I'll make it up to you tomorrow with RMS story parts.

Noelle - Day 232 (Awesome Homeschooling Stuff)

Hiya guys! So, I know you haven't heard from me in a while.  Well, you have, but you heard from the admin side of me, the naggy pestery side.  I apologize. Anyway, hi!  How are you?  Long time no see! I was thinking today (no, it did not hurt) and I realized that being a homeschooler is like being on the top of the food chain but everybody ignores you.  Translation: We're awesome as all heck. But seriously, I even put together a list!  (for all you homeschoolers out there)  And I call it, Reasons Homeschooling is Awesome. You can literally wear ANYTHING you want in public - nerd shirts, your brightest clothing, or your killer homeschool sweatshirts and nobody will judge you on that (because you are a homeschooler and homeschoolers are weird) You know what the commissary looks like empty Yes, we actually do do school in our pajamas.  Occasionally.  When our teacher is too tired to nag us about it. You can work ahead in school and ...

Noelle - Day 209 (Bad Poetry)

Ello! Okay I'm known for being a good author and writer.  But really, poetry is not my gig.  I mean, I write poetry occasionally when I'm REALLY out of ideas or something.  Or when I have too many ideas.  One or the either. But I'll admit.  This isn't my best work. Here's to the crazies The ones who's sanity Is a little bit hazy Here's to the fangirls The readers The live-rs The ones who with they could do more than just watch The ones who live a thousand lives The ones who wish the authors would take it up One more notch Or one notch less Here's to the writers The poets The authors Who know the pain of not knowing What happens next Here's to the bloggers Who work day and night Hoping someone might notice What they did right Here's to the artists The painters For every great piece There's a "scrub that stain off your shirt" The sketchers For all good art There's a "y...

Noelle - Day 186 (Q&A)

Image
Hi guys! Did you have a good Christmas?  I certainly hope so! You may notice that the blog has been revamped.  It's not much, just a background change and a color switch, but I hope you guys like it. So I was bored the other day and I wrote a list of questions that I (me, Noelle Matherne) am really tired of being asked. Literally, whenever I mention that I'm homeschooled: soooo how do you socialize?  Do you have friends?  No, I sit at home all day, doing nothing, and totally not messaging my friends in Ohio, Florida, New Jersey, Italy, and Idaho.   Not at all.  Nope. This does't really apply to me now, because I grew my hair our, but: Why is your hair so short? I don't know, why are your shoes pink?  Because REASONS. Military life: so...where are you going next?  I don't know.  My dad doesn't know.  The military doesn't know.  Why are you asking me. Okay, you guys might not get this one, but I'll say it anyway: what ...

Noelle - Day 185 (10 Things I've Learned from being a Military Kid)

Image
Sorry for the long post name. As you might guess, today we're going to talk about ten things I've learned in my childhood military career.  Comment if you relate (or if I forgot something). "Brat" is not necessarily a bad description of someone Nothing lasts forever, so enjoy it while you can Good friends take work (if they don't take work, they're not good friends) No wall color is more ugly than that off white color Self checkout is easy to use {except its not} People have literally no idea how the military works...like...none...at all. Be inside at 5 o'clock or suffer the dire consequences You can't pack up a house in a single day.  No matter what the professional packers say. Normal people stand up for the national anthem at the movie theater Artillery fire and tanks in the streets are totally bad things (unless you don't live on base...) Some more things I decided not to include in my official list: "hm, that plane is ...

Noelle - Da 178 (RMS and EXCITMENT!!)

HELLO!!! I AM SO HAPPY!!!  Why? Well, first of all, I have a candy cane right now...and candy canes make everything better.  And so does lemon zinger tea.  Which I happen to also have right now. Second, the week is over, and I survived!  RMS is BACK!!! And thirdly, there's a Park Day tomorrow.  Don't know what a Park Day is?
