How to NOT Die (Part 2!)

Image
Hey guys! I'm back again with more tips that I'm not qualified to tell y'all (because I'm not 18 yet.  We tecnically have no proof that these tips help you make it to 18.  Well, this is awkward)  I hope you guys like these posts because I'm planning on doing 101 of them!  But not all today, luckily.  Nah, today is just: 101 Ways to NOT Die (before age 18) #21-40 Talk to your parents.  They aren't trying to ruin your life, I promise Don't tolerate unhealthy relationships.  You are worth more than unbalanced friendships, abusive romantic relationships, and constant online depression (sort of a tangent, but when I went to Stuebenville 2017, one of the talks was on social media and how when a person is exposed to negative, complaining posts online, they're more likely to exude that emotion, and visa versa.  Keep your feed positive, and you're more likely to be happy and healthy :D ) Read How to Find Your Soulmate without Losing Your Soul by ...

WE GOT EVICTED!!!!!!!!!! (clickbait)

I could have died today. I'm kidding, not really, there's like zero chance that I could have died.  However, we did get kicked out of our house today!! ... Is this how you make click bait-y stuff? Sorry that this post is a bit late, I was super busy with our church's annual Oktoberfest today (I'll be posting about it on my other blog, Today I Met , if you want to hear about it!)  But anyway, I'm sure you want to know why I bothered with the clickbait title and the shenanigans.  So stand up!  Now go make some popcorn and sit back down because lesgo: So this lovely lil' story starts two months ago, on a fateful day in the middle of summer.  The mowers were buzzing around, being generally bad at their job and causing grass to go alloverda place.  As they swept past our yard, Mom noticed that the cap on the external sewer pipe was missing - possibly because of the mowers, possibly because of other things, maybe a mixture of both.  At any rate, she h...

Life Update (I nearly died of exhaustion)

Hey guys! I'm still RVing, actually, and am typing this up on an iPad with a slow wifi connection, so forgive me if this post is sub-par.  I'll talk more about my RV trip in a separate post, and it will be a looooong post (*evil laughter*) but for now, let's just go ahead and get started! As I mentioned in my post, Placeholder, I've been So.  Insanely.  Busy.  For the last month and a half, I've been going at what feels like a non-stop pace, and I'm glad to say that once my trip is over, so is the rush.  Finished, just in time for the new school year.  Yay. It all started when Dad had to go and get promoted like ugh the nerve of him (I'm kidding, by the way.  In case that wasn't clear.  Mad respect, Dad). And I wouldn't have minded, except that it lined up with some of our friends (with two kids that were babysat by yours truly) coming in, staying the night, then leaving.  And then we had some more friends (THREE KIDS!!) come in, ...

The Mysteries of Harris Burdick

Hello internet world. It's Elena, and I'm here to tell you about one of my favorite books. I will give you the introduction to the book so that you'll understand it, and then all the pictures. This is a writing prompt book before most writing prompts were found on the internet. This book is also a family favorite, I hope you enjoy the story. There are writing prompts for fiction writers, horror writers, and more. Each picture will have a caption underneath from the book. I hope you enjoy the post! Now, to Harris Burdick

Hey everybody! It's Noelle, your favourite randomness expert.  Today’s random topic is:  you know how when you get off school in the spring and say, “Oh good, I’m going to have so much time to relax this summer!”  And then... stuff just... pops up out of nowhere, like schedule dwarves or something. Yeah that’s my summer so far. Still enjoying it though!

Adventures with Kids

Hey everybody, it's Noelle!  I...reallllllly don't have the energy to do a full on post.  But!  I do have the energy to write some posts for a different minor blog (one which I will not link on here, because you've gotten enough advertising as is), so I was like, you know what, I'll just sneakily copy and paste....they won't notice. And if you don't know, now you know Mr. President. So without further ado, I present: ADVENTURES WITH KIDS (episodes one through four)

So I Disappeared for Awhile... Here's Why - Kathleen

Image
Hi Guys So most of you have probably noticed that I haven' posted since early February. There's a lot of reasons for this. One of them was that my grandma just passed away. I never thought that would ever happen but when they visited last, I had a feeling that it was going to be the last time I saw her. It was. The other reason is that because I was gone a lot of January I ended up being very behind on school. I had like 5 papers to write and regular school to get caught up on. I'm getting all A's so I guess I do have a little wiggle room, but I need to get A's. The other, biggest reason is because I have stress attacks. Some of you know about this some of you don't. I guess this is me opening up about something that has been very difficult for me to talk about mainly because I feel like people will just pass it off as me trying to be special or me making a big deal about my life. If you know me, you will know that that isn't how I role. So here goes. I...

Noelle - That Time I was a Vandal

Image
I... I don't even have a good intro for this.  * sigh * So I've wanted to share this story for a long time, but literally every time I think of it, I get so mortified that I shove it down into the depths of my memory to be forgotten for another few months.  BUT NOT THIS TIME, OH NO.  This time I put up a reminder on my computer, so I could be reminded about it every day until my stubborn side snapped and I write this potentially embarrassing post. So yeah, here we are. I don't know if any of you remember, but at one point my dad went on a 365 Days deployment to Honduras (that means a long deployment that we couldn't accompany him on, but we could visit). If you don't know what Honduras is, well, it's south of Mexico (the base there is called the Gateway to Central America).  It's really hot and humid, and there's leaf cutter ants making super long trains that you could probably follow for miles, and there's mountains that scrape the sky.  It...

Noelle - My Trip

Image
Helloooooo everybody! I’m going to mix it up and bit and do one of these vloggy bloggy thingies (is that the official name?  Are we really sticking with that?  Okay.  Well then)  Anyway, I went on a trip recently, and it was just so packed with stuff and awesome that I have to tell you guys about it. Okay, so the reason that we went down to Texas in the first place was because my cousin is getting married (she doesn’t read my blog but just in case...hi cousin!) and had her bridal shower, PLUS we’re selling our old house (we have a house in Texas, btw...did you guys know that?) so the Matherne clan migrated south to take care of painting and cleaning and such. Alrighty so, DAY ONE: We didn’t take an airplane flight.  Why?  Because we can travel in the Wanderer of course!  The Wanderer (which is kind of a mouthful out loud...and you just said it didn’t you.) So...predictable (also if you haven't seen the video I'm quoting, go c...

Valentines Day - Jay

Hello, hello, hello! So, two days ago was Valentines Day, right? And most of y'all hated it (I myself don't mind some of the sweets >:D) But in all honesty, I think most of you have the story all mixed up. Valentine's Day isn't all about love and kissing and being around your datemate! Actually, it's about a Saint during the Roman empire. It's a pretty cool story, so grab your popcorn, cus J's about to tell y'all kiddies a story! So this all started around the year 278 A.D.. Emperor Claudius II was ruling, and he wasn't a cool dude. This man loved his army, and he wanted it run with an iron fist. In fact, this douche bag was actually called Claudius the Cruel, due to his bloody ways. That meant that no one wanted to be in his army. And I mean  no one. Claudius is furious, thinking it's because young soldiers don't want to leave their wives and families to fight in useless wars. And he's kinda right. Like honestly, if I had a wife ...

Noelle - I'm Back

Image
Hey guys! So I had a super cool post planned out for this week, filled with lots of doodles and stuff about my trip, since it was jammed pack.  Unfortunately, the week after my trip (a.k.a. last week) left me feeling like this: So now I'm writing this post instead. (yes, that drawing is mine.  Such artistic talent.  Much wow.) Anyway, I've been really busy and this week has been super tiring, so I'm putting off my 'about-my-trip' post for a bit.  Hope you don't mind, and until next time...stay awesome!

March for Life and Faith Vloggy Bloggy- Kathleen

Image
I don't actually know when I last posted.... 2 weeks ago?? Anyways, I'm back, hopefully for a while. I'm not planning on making any surprise trips anywhere for the next couple of months. So I'm doing a Vloggy Bloggy today, as you can see by the title. I could be a bit long so lets just get started. I took a class early on Tuesday morning and then we picked up the boys to drive for two whole days from Swansea, IL, to Manassas, VA. I'm sure they were thrilled to be spending all that time with us in a car. We drove all day, then stopped in Lexington, KY overnight. We slept super well, the beds were really comfy. And although we didn't bring swimwear, the pool there was HUGE! Maybe 50 meters!  But their workout room was actually kind of funny. In the pictures, they had all this cool stuff, but in real life, they had a treadmill. That was it... kind of a let down because I was TOTALLY going to use it... right? Anyways, we hit the road again the next day after...

Update on life - Madison

Image
Hey!      Its been a really, really long time since I've posted, and I have alot to update you on. So buckled up and sit tight for this long post.      November 22, 2016 I moved....again. Leaving the place that was my home for a year to move to Maryland. I've lived in Maryland once before so it wasn't a huge shock while moving. When we got to church it was like we never left, it was awesome. The reason we moved is because my dad changed jobs again. He retired from the military in June of 2015, so no more moving becuase of the miliary. He ended up sort of coming back into the military. I have no idea what he does now, a contractor for the government or something. But I was able to come into his work and actually see his office, so those who have a parent in the military knows what I'm talking about. I think I have only ever seen 3 of my dad's work. In my 16 years of life, and all the 13ish different times he changed work spaces...only3. Anyways....we move...

Well That's a First!! - Kathleen

Hi. I'm back. Sorry for the disappearance, I really hope you didn't send out a search party. I've been in New Hampshire for the past week. My grandma died so we went up for her funeral. Your prayers, thoughts, and condolences are greatly appreciated. This post is going to be a bit different, kind of like a story-time. So just stick with me. So on Wednesday, January 4th, we had a flight out of St. Louis to Baltimore at 8:30 am. We got to the airport on time, thanks to the help of our friends. They got up super early (like 5 am) to drive us so we all good to go. Our flight out to Baltimore went well, there were some cool clouds. We caught our connection to Manchester and drove up to my grandpa's house. Everything went well, we had great weather. The adventure started on the way back, yesterday. Our flight out of Manchester was set for 4:10 pm, so there was really no way we could miss the flight of our own fault. My family left my grandpa's h...
