Magnus Chase Story Chapter 3
Wow, I am on a roll! Well, I did tell you that I would update at midnight, didn't I? So, let's get on with the chapter!!! (I know it sucks...bear with me...)
Camp Half-Blood? Eh, The Could've Picked A Better Name.
Not really. But it did feel like I died.
It felt like I was being torn into microscopic pieces and reconstructing. Except it was much faster. Like, Tilt-A-Whirl-puke-your-guts out fast.
It felt like hours of torture, but in reality, it was more like 5 seconds. My imagination sucks.
A feminine, teenage voice says something around my right shoulder area, "Hey? You awake yet?"
Groaning, the first thing I notice is the throbbing pain coming from my head. Reaching up, I feel something coarse and thin. Bandages.
Then, I check the rest of my body. No other marks line my body, except a scar I got when I was little. I've had that as long as I could remember.
"Jeez. What happened? I feel like I was pile-drived by a bull.." Even my voice sounded hoarse and unused.
The girl's voice spoke again, this time slightly clearer. "Close enough. You got pile-drived by a satyr. And you might want to take it easy. You've been knocked out for at least a day."
I scowled and sat up. What was a satyr anyways? Was that what Grover was. A satyr?
Nothing hurt like crazy, well, except my head. I felt like whining, but I'd probably get slapped, by the looks of this girl.
Her hair was in a messy ponytail and she was lean, as if she worked out everyday. Her eyes were a gleaming grey. They seemed to scan everything about me. My hair, my eyes, my ears...everything.
She wore a orange 'Camp Half-Blood' shirt, whatever that is. Covering her lower section was a pair of denim jeans and sneakers.
"Where's Glacier?"
Of course my first thought is about my best friend. And cousin, if that Hod guy was right.
"The boy you were with? Right outside. He got wounded bu-"
Before she was finished, I was out the door. Or tent flap, in my case.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
He was leaning against the wall (or tent side) of the infirmary place. Or hospital. Whatever.
A band-aid was slapped across his forehead and a bandage was wrapped around his midsection. His leather jacket, which he always wore, now lay, unused, by his side.
"Hey Glacier? You ok?" I was worried for him, sure. But if I showed him that, I wasn't sure what he would do.
Glacier was what you would call...unpredictable. With him, anything can happen.
"Yeah...I'm fine." His voice was just as hoarse as mine, maybe worse. He let out a moan and covered his eyes with a hand. Did I mention he hated sunlight?
Also, remember in Chapter 1 were I said he looked like Jack Frost? Scratch that. He's a vampiric Jack Frost. Even better.
He stood, though not for long. Mere seconds after some standing, he almost fell down with a thud. Luckily, a dude came out of a shadow to save the day.
No joke. He literally came out of a shadow and caught Glacier.
"Umm.....A-are you doing alright man? You look like your at my dad's door."
"Ugh. I feel like I'm a foot from Helheim..." There's that word again, Helheim. Why does Glacier say that? It sounds like that word, just...more menacing.
Helping mystery boy with Glacier, I get a better look at his face. He had black hair that fell in his eyes, which were a dark chocolate brown. His skin, a pale olive tone, held a pink tinge around his cheeks and ears. Looking up slightly, he caught my gaze.
His eyes looked dull, almost like....
"Um...Ugh. Can I..p-possibly g-get to a...bleh....toilet? I-i w-wouldn't want t-to ruin y-your n-nice clothes man." Glancing back at my friend, I noticed his green tinged face and his posture, which was on the I'm-gonna-puke-my-guts-out side. He was showing how I felt earlier.
Looking at the boy, he nodded and began leading Glacier away from me and toward a big blue building in the distance. Sighing, I turned and headed back into the tent thingy, a scowl on my face.
Though, it did brighten when I heard arguing inside. Oh my favorite sport, competitive arguing....
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Why in Zeus's name did you bring her here Percy!?"
"Shes a demigod Annabeth! I had to protect her from that guy she was with!"
"PERCY! SHE'S NOT EVEN A GREEK DEMIGOD! OR ROMAN! I'VE HEARD OF HER KIND! HELL, EVEN MY COUSIN IS ONE!"
"W-what do you mean?"
Feeling bored with the meaninglessness chatter, I decided to become a man and step up. "Umm...I'm right here you know."
Ok, maybe not the manliest thing to say, but hey, I'm trying!
Both of them turned, and I recognized the guy from earlier. Not being in the strongest state of my mind, I let out what I was feeling in a burst of angry words.
"YOU! EVER SINCE YOU AND GOAT-MAN SHOWED UP, MY LIFE HAS FLIPPED! SANTA, WHO SEEMS TO BE MY UNCLE, TOLD ME TO DITCH YOU GUYS, AND NOW YOUR ARGUING OVER WHAT RELIGION I HOLD! I'M A FRIGGIN' ATHEIST MAN! I WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS!"
Tears now streamed down my face and my fingernails dug into my hands drawing blood. But did I care? Nope.
Percy looked shocked, but Annabeth looked kinda doubtful.
"Atheist? I think not. You have to believe in at least some sort of religion."
At that second, I wouldn't have minded tackling her. Sadly, she was saved by my cousin. AKA Glacier.
He stomped in, his shirt ruffled and his hands still damp from washing them. His face had lost its green tinge but he still looked a little wobbly.
"Back off. We are leaving. We have a quest to attend to." His voice now sounded more Scandinavian than ever, with more of a growl. His eyebrow twitched and his lips curled. He looked ferocious.
But still. A thought nagged at the back of my mind. This place seemed....familiar. Somehow. I just wasn't sure how though.
"Wait! At least let us tell you something!" Annabeth's voice sounded rushed, hurried. "If your gonna leave, know this. Camp Half-Blood will always be your home. If you need one that is."
I felt a warm feeling in my chest. A happy, light feeling. Though that dimmed when an arrow flew threw my gut.
Also, remember to post your fav. PJ and MC characters! (Mine's Hearth...oh looked here's some pics...yay!)
The last one isn't Hearth. Cuz Hearth can't talk. But he can do magic so....yeah. That's Magnus everyone. The lead protagonist. Cool huh?
Well, I should probably go to bed....sleepy...tired...words....*yawn*. Night.
