Jay - Day 252 (Another Short Story...)
Wassup dudes and dudettes! I am here with another awesome adorable short story! And don't worry my amazing readers this one isn't about the Easter Bunny. (If you read my last post you would understand) This one is about a prompt-ish thing Noelle put up couple days back. The picture is here. Now, this is gonna be all fluffy and adorable so prepare yourself. If I should make more of these cutsie little things, then comment! Now, before I get distracted, let's read!!
(PS: The boyfriends name is Edward if you were confused. I find that name perfect for this story. (PPS: There is minor, minor cussing. Only the word damn. But their in college so yeah. Well, Edward is at least.))
Medusa and Edward's First Date!
Edward's POV
My new girlfriend, Medusa, pulled me gently down the street, her hand soft and warm. I really wish I could see her. But sadly, I'm blind, so that made it impossible. I can imagine she's beautiful though. Even if she isn't, I still love her. I can still remember when we first met...
Flashback!!! :)
Seating myself down, I grasped my cup in an iron grip. I had run into this café only minutes earlier due to the rain that now splattered the window I was seated next too. I normally didn't go to busy places like this without a friend, the fact being I was afraid of awkward confrontations. Fate seemed to hate me though, so now I was stuck in an overly crowded coffee shop with a dead phone and soaking clothes. Sighing, I adjusted my tinted glasses. Raising my cup to my lips, I was about to take a sip when someone tapped me on the shoulder. Setting my cup down, I turned in the person's general direction.
"Yes?" I asked timidly. A beautiful, melodic and feminine voice responded almost immediately.
"I'm sorry but all the other seats are taken. Can I sit here?" The now apparently female asked. Nodding, I once more grasped my cup. I could hear squealing noises as the lady pulled the chair back and sat down.
"I'm Medusa by the way." She stated simply. Smiling, I recognized the name instantly. Being a mythology major in college did have it's perks.
"Medusa...what a pretty name. The name is Edward. It's a pleasure." Letting my smile turn shy, I nervously fixed my glasses. This happened when I'm around people. Females especially. The lady giggled and I could hear her clothing rustle as she moved.
"T-thanks!" Still smiling, I took a sip of my now cold drink. Damn. Sudden, air flows past my face and my features contorted into one of confusion. What just happened?
"Hello? Are you looking at me or what? I've been trying to get your attention for three minutes!" The female sitting across from me huffed in annoyance. Letting my face flush, I look down, my bangs covering my face.
"I-i'm blind so I didn't see. I'm s-so sorry." I whisper sadly. Hearing a gasp, I lift my head, only to be tackled into a hug. This lady is hugging me. Me of all people!
"I am soo stupid! I should have known Ed! Please forgive me!" She murmurs into the crook of my neck.
My face now crimson, I pat her head comfortingly. Only to pull back in shock. Was that scales?!?! I feel her flinch and she releases me and returns to her seat.
"Did I offend you!?" I blurt out. Feeling a hand in my shoulder, I turn in that direction.
"No. See yah around Ed!" A voice whispered warmly in my ear as something is placed in my hand. "Oh and call me!"
End Flashback :(
Grinning, I turn to where I know my date walks, hand and hand, with me. Her clothes rustle and I know she's looking at me too. Blushing, I look away, only for her to giggle cutely. Turning redder, I run a hand through my shaggy hair.
"I like your hair. It's such a handsome brown." Medusa suddenly chirps, making my eyes widen. She always does this to me. She says it's cute when I'm flustered. Feeling awkward, I begin to run through different compliments I could give her. Oh, if only I wasn't blind!
Feeling nervous, I begin to panic. We have nothing to talk about. A thought suddenly pops into my mind. Didn't Medua mention something about snakes??...
"I REALLY LIKE SNAKES!!" I blurt out in sheer panic.
Medusa's POV
We were walking, a comfortable silence surrounding us. I could tell that he was nervous. His grip on my hand had been strong, but now he acted as if it was a life line. His palms were clammy as well. Letting an almost silent giggle escape my lips, I idly pet one of my snakes. It lets out a quiet hiss in response. Turning to Edward, I give him a loving glance. He really was handsome. With his dark, glossy brown hair and emerald green eyes that matched my snake's scales. To me, he was the perfect mortal. Him being blind, in my opinion, only made him more adorable.
"I like your hair. It's such a handsome brown." I coaxed him gently, hoping he'll respond. And respond he does.
After turning an almost impossible shade of crimson, he stares at the ground in deep thought. Suddenly jerking his head upward, he faces straight ahead.
"I REALLY LIKE SNAKES!!" He declares finally. Face turning red, I look at him. Only to see him 'looking' away, embarrassed. Smiling shyly, I let one of my snakes kiss him. He freezes at the touch and stops.
"Your name isn't a coincidence is it?" He breathes out slowly. Shaking my head, I smirk. Realizing he can't see me, I hastily respond.
"N-nope!" I brag slightly before dragging him in the direction of my apartment.
10 Minutes Later...
We sit on my couch, cuddling as we watch a movie. Shockingly, it's a rom-com and we are hardly paying attention. My head is resting on his shoulder and his arm is wrapped around my shoulders.
"Hey Medusa?" He questiones. Looking up at him, I answer.
"Yeah wha- mmph!" My sentence is cut off when he gently pressed his lips on my own. Smiling, I return the kiss. Sadly, it only lasts for a moment and he pulls away.
"S-sorry!" He whimpers as he looks away, flustered. Chuckling I bury my head in his chest.
"No, don't apologize. I liked it Ed." I murmur into his shirt. He shifts and hugs me. His head is soon buried in the crook of my neck. "I love you."
"I love you too." I agree, attempting to shove as much feeling as I could into those three perfect words. I may be an immortal gorgon, but I mean every single word.
