Noelle - Day 99 (SQUEE!!!, Female Genie, and More)

I'm all hyped up now!!!
Seriously!!!   Tomorrow is the ONE HUNDRED DAY MARK!  How can you NOT be as excited as I am?!?  :)

So, busy post today, might as well get started.  I'm kinda view Saturday (i.e. tomorrow) as kind of Christmas and now planning around it since I already know what I'm going to post.  Today I'm going to show you part one of drawing my female genie.  Allow me to explain...click the link below (R.M.S. parts at the bottom)

Alright, so a lot of people have been asking me how I do my fan art.  Remember I did the Elsa and Evil Elsa, Woody, Dobby, etc.  How do I do those (because I'm not very good)?  How much did you trace?  How did you paint it?

Well, I did a new drawing, which was originally fan art but I gave it up half way through drawing it.  This is part one, and before I start, THIS IS NOT MY ARTWORK.  Which probably doesn't make sense, but ANYTHING that's traced is not "your" art work.  I'm just doing a tutorial, and for the second part I'll try to find the original, but this is not "mine".  Bah, copyright rules.

Let's get started, shall we?  Female Genie in colored pencil!
This is how much I trace on a usual pic.  By the way, sorry for the horrible lighting, I do a lot of my drawing in the dark of my room...at night.  With Evil Elsa, she was based off somebody else's art work, no tracing, and Dobby is original.  :)

Add some basic shapes - necklace, tail (tail? lamp? base? legs?) smoke, and shirt.

Like I said, NOT MY ART WORK.  You can see how similar these are.  Besides the tracing, however, the rest is all free hand.

Let's adjust the bodice thingie because the triangle shape ain't working.

Add a lamp over one of the steams of smoke/magic.

You can see how much we've gotten done.  I've darkened some lines, twined some more smoke around her, and colored her lips.  Don't worry, she's not always this creepy.

Detailing on the smoke.  Remember to keep your hand loose but keep the smoke's shape.  I have it cross over her arm twice so that it's "semi-solid" but it's still smoke.

Time to add some shading (and apparently increase the bad quality of my light source).  Don't be nervous to go dark, but in general keep it light because we're going to darken it when we color.

Just quickly zooming out so you can see where we're at.

Let's take a look at the face.  VERY LITTLE SHADING.  A lot of people mess up here, but keep the face pretty light and darken the hair.

See?

Just a little on the cheeks, under the hair, and on the nose is good.

Don't forget to shade skin and armlets.

My light source is coming from behind, so I shaded her front a bit more than I usually would.

Also, shading on her tail.  Since it's partly smoke keep it loose and fuzzy.

It looks like she's taking a selfie whoops.

And that's all for today!
Anyway,  I'm running low on time now.  Come back after the 100 Day mark for the coloring tutorial and here's your R.M.S. parts I have to run bye.

Random Marvel-based Story (Part 53)

Thirty-three silent, stress filled seconds later, Jess jumped up and glanced around the room wildly.  “Where am I?”

“You’re on the helicarrier, Jess, remember?  You were thinking about glass?”  Tony said, fully aware of how ridiculous he sounded.  “You do remember that, right?”

“No,” she said, her voice hovering somewhere between child-like and ice cold.  She hasn’t used that voice since - “Why am I here?” She said, a twinge of fear sneaking in.

“Clara?”  Tony said, taking a careful step towards the shivering girl.  She nodded.  “What do you remember?”

Jess quivered and shook, her eyes somewhere distant.  She darted farther away till she was huddled in a dark corner, protected by a rack of S.H.I.E.L.D. uniforms.  “He’s taken Hawkeye and I don’t know why, Tony.  It all happened so fast...I didn’t know what to do...please, you have to go find him!  He promised to help me with my homework, Tony, he promised!”

Spider-man stared.  Jess needing help with homework?  That never happened, but then again, Jess never cowered in the corner, frightened to make eye contact with anybody.  Who took Hawkeye?  Why were Nick Fury and Tony Stark just looking at each other.

“Clara?  Is it ok if I come closer?”  Stark whispered.  She nodded again, and he came closer, step by step.

“I know you’re scared,” Nick said calmly, but behind his back, Spider-man could see him loading a stun gun.  Nobody moved except Jess, who shuddered again and curled into a ball.

Tony took another step, so careful you would have thought that he was stepping on swamp mud.  Slowly, he extended a hand towards her.  “There’s no reason to worry, Clara.  Relax, the Avengers will take care of it, ok?  I promise.”

Spider-man had never seen Iron Man act so gentle or kind, but still so on edge and worried.  The whole room was filled with pressure to the point where he thought that it was only a matter of time till everything blew up.

“Hawkeye promised too,” Jess whispered, her voice laced with utter betrayal - like a kid who didn’t get a lollipop - but she took Stark’s hand anyway.

Before Nick could get a clear shot, Jess expertly spun Tony around like a ballroom dancer, turning him from hero to human shield before anybody could react.  Nick barely twitched, but the gun slid back into a hidden holster.  Both hands went up.

“Hm.  All that training with Tasha did pay of after all.  Good call, Tony,” Jess said, her voice not changing a shade.

“Clara...” Nick Fury said cautiously, making the mistake of coming even closer.  Jess’s, or rather, Clara’s, death-grip on Stark’s throat tightened, and the director froze again.

She slid her hand into a pocket on Tony’s leg.  “Ooh, what’s this?  A new play toy, I think,” She laughed, her maniacal giggles echoing eerily off the walls.  Peter shuddered, fully and scarily aware that everything about this was wrong on a nightmarish level.  But then again, hadn’t everything else for the past few days been that way?

Clara pinned Tony against the wall, which struck Spider-man as odd.  It had only been a day, and a mostly drugged day, since she had mistakenly not put her back to something, but she had already adjusted her fighting style to match.  But this Jess - or Clara - was too rough-around-the-edges to think about something like that, to unaware of her surroundings.  What was going on here.

The girl laughed again, lurching forwards, making Spider-man’s hair stand on end, pointing a gun at Nick Fury and a knife to Iron Man’s throat.  “Not so smart now, are you, Iron Man,” Clara spat sarcastically.

“Why are you doing this?”  Nick whispered, not daring to move with a gun pointed at his forehead.

“Why?  Why?”  Clara said, as if it was obvious.  “I thought you would know more than anybody, Fury.  I knew the moment you refused to help those people, those - how did you put it?  Ah - civilians, at Carroll’s Rock.  No, don’t bother to look confused, Fury, you know what I’m talking about.  They died that day - because of you.  Now what kind of person does that make you?”

When nobody answered, the black-haired girl looked her grey-blue eyes on Spider-man’s and said quietly, “A murderer.”

“There are other people out there, you two, that know better.  That help the civilians, people you call villains.  People who care.  Those kinds of people will take care of them,” Jess (if it really was Jess) said, putting extra special emphasis on the word them like it was the most important thing in the world.  Nobody responded.

She scowled.  “You were right, Stark, just like you always are.  I can’t handle it all on my own.  I can’t do it all on my own.  I’m looking for somebody else to help, people,” she said, staring directly at Nick Fury, “That don’t lock up innocent little kids and put them in glass jars like insects ready to be squashed.”

“People,” she added, shaking now with anger, “That don’t tell them they’re dangerous and have to be contained, as if they were little bitty bombs ready to go off while they’re still in kindergarten.  Like that’s normal!  I just want them to have a normal life.  Please.  And that’s not something that either of you can provide.  Sorry, but I’ve changed sides now, and nobody will ever stop me.”
