Noelle - Day 273 (Babysitting Nightmares)
Hi guys!
It's Noelle, blogger, artist, writer, and apparently, teen babysitter as well.
Happy Monday!! I hope y'all don't have school this week (I don't :P)
Actual post: Today was an early Saturday (unfortunately, this will not post on a Saturday, making it sound like I need several more cups of coffee, but in truth I'm just posting it today. I swear I'm nottoo crazy) Anyway so today was an early Saturday, where Mom made me drag my carcass out of bed at eight o'clock in the morning, if you can believe that.
Anyway, once I had stumbled downstairs and considered for the 398th time that maybe I should try drinking actual coffee and not caffeine-free tea, it was time. The day I had been dreading since I had agreed to sign up. Volunteering at the church. Babysitting. Why.
So basically, there was a marriage retreat thing at my church and the youth group got voluntold as babysitters. Ugh.
*takes a three hour break from writing post to doodle useless doodles because REASONS and LOGIC*
Actually, in reality, the babysitting part wasn't too bad. There were two rooms: younger and older kids, and I got put with the older kids. We were supposed to have 4-6 younglings in all, but only ended up with 2, which I could have babysitted on my own, no problem. Unfortunately, that's not what happened. Instead, I got stuck with a 12 year old and a 14 year old for babysitting "partners". To all current and future babysitting girls: try not to get paired with guys.
First of all, the damage that was caused was horrible (somebody gave them a ball to play with and I will just say that I lost count of how many times it hit the ceiling/window/expensive TV. Second, they have no clue what to do with the kids. OH LETS GO OUTSIDE. AND HIT EACHOTHER WITH INFLATABLE SWORDS. FUN. Third, you have to babysit them as well as the kids. :P
Now, I won't say that I didn't have a good time. Actually, it was fun - I gave the kids piggy back rides (the guys couldn't pick them up so I used my nonexistent strength to do it instead) and kept things fairly under control. The three of us had an deeply intellectual conversation, i.e. so you're homeschooled? Yeah. So you don't do real school? *launches into full on rant mode about how until the 1800s homeschooling WAS real school so really for the majority of recorded history you're the ones that don't do real school*. I even got to color with crayons, which for some reason still keeps me busy and happy.
But.
Guys.
Seriously.
So to sum up my experience with babysitting today:
