Noelle - Day 324 (The Last Survivors Post for a While, I promise)
Hey everybody!
So I actually have a few Survivors drafts lined up, but I've thought about it and I need to slow down and actually think through the story line some. Since Survivors is the middle of the series (with The Warriors being the first and the unwritten The Betrayers being the last) I need to really make sure that it ties to both books well.
So without further ado, the last Survivors for a while (I promise):
Jess and Ricardo fought hand to hand in free fall. She was the better fighter and definitely more used to combat in the air, but Ricardo was heavier and determined. The henchmen wanted Jess dead. Desperately.

The Survivors (Parts Something and Something) {I iz lazy}
Jess and Ricardo fought hand to hand in free fall. She was the better fighter and definitely more used to combat in the air, but Ricardo was heavier and determined. The henchmen wanted Jess dead. Desperately.
“Tell me where the base is and I can still save you!” Jess screamed, but the rushing air ripped her words away.
“Never!”
You are the most annoying henchmen ever, she thought to herself and they crashed onto the stone below. Her skeleton jolted and she collapsed, all powers exhausted. There had been no time to connect to the stone, no time to establish a connection. She had hit it hard. I can’t keep doing this, she thought through the haze of pain. The dim light flickered. No, no falling unconscious.
WHAM!
A heavy fist slammed into Jess’s back. How the heck...? Ricardo is human, he can’t have survived that fall! It would be impossible. Even she was in bad shape, and the stone had softened the blow a lot for her. Her body was refusing to get up, so Jess could only lay there, stinging with pain and belly flat against the chasm floor.
WHAM!!
The fist hit her again. I can’t do this, Jess thought, the faded light from above fading even more. Please, I can’t do this. Something above her thudded against the chasm wall and the punches stopped.
Sam was rolling her over, propping her against the wall. “Jess!” He said, panicked. “Oh gosh Jess wake up!”
Ricardo was struggling against a stone snake, thicker than a tree limb, choking out all his air. Her eyes widened and suddenly her hand was out, ordering the stone away. The anger that was coursing through her was demanding revenge. Her training said to let it go. We need him alive.
Sam was at her shoulder. “Jess, you fell like a lot of feet are you okay omigosh Elise stop we want him conscious Jess are you okay no don’t get up yet you’re not okay Jess-”
She staggered up anyway, clutching his arm for support. Elise glared and released her hold on Ricardo’s shirt.
“How...? How are you still alive?” Jess said to the man.
Perri struggled to his feet and metal clinked. His movements were becoming more and more jerky. “The eyes...of...the Lake Empire...,” Ricardo clanked out, his jaw continuing to move up and down mechanically after he had finished talking, “...have fallen...on you,” It continued, pointing a sparking finger at Jess. There was the sound of power going out and the man, now obviously a robot of some kind, fell to the ground in a heap of fake skin and so much scrap metal.
§§§
Mwhahahahahahaha! Have fun with that (actually, the document version has more, now that I think about it. Huh)
Bye!
