Life Update (I nearly died of exhaustion)

Hey guys!

I'm still RVing, actually, and am typing this up on an iPad with a slow wifi connection, so forgive me if this post is sub-par.  I'll talk more about my RV trip in a separate post, and it will be a looooong post (*evil laughter*) but for now, let's just go ahead and get started!

As I mentioned in my post, Placeholder, I've been So.  Insanely.  Busy.  For the last month and a half, I've been going at what feels like a non-stop pace, and I'm glad to say that once my trip is over, so is the rush.  Finished, just in time for the new school year.  Yay.

It all started when Dad had to go and get promoted like ugh the nerve of him (I'm kidding, by the way.  In case that wasn't clear.  Mad respect, Dad). And I wouldn't have minded, except that it lined up with some of our friends (with two kids that were babysat by yours truly) coming in, staying the night, then leaving.  And then we had some more friends (THREE KIDS!!) come in, stay a couple nights, and then leave.  And then family, and more family (a cousin!), and then the original group of friends come in for another night, and just general chaos and lack of personal space and a partridge in a pear tree.  It was...exhausting.

During this insane time period, by the way, I had a friend who moved away from us.  All military kids know the pain of having to let go of a friend and this was no easier than the rest.  ...Actually, it was a bit harder, because the day he left I stubbed my toe and broke it.  Yes, I actually broke my toe by stubbing it on a table leg.  Anybody who says that that is not possible is a LIAR.

So during the craziness of promotions and babysitting, I was nursing a blackened toe and the embarrassment of having to explain, "I can't.  I broke a toe."  In case you didn't know, people give you VERY weird looks when you say that.

Anyway, I had four days of rest and then...Steubenville.  Now, I've talked about Steubenville before, so I won't go into it again.  You can check out Two Dorks with a Blog's version of the story or look up my old posts if you want to hear about it, but suffice it to say that it was mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausting.

But!  No time to rest!  The Monday I get back, it's time for VBS, cat sitting, and a three hour art intensive!  ...you can probably imagine what it was like without me going into the grueling details.  However, I would most definitely say...I'd do it again.  The satisfaction of 150+ kids actually doing the dance that I helped teach them, after a week of hard work and the quiet moments of art class where I could rest my head on the table (next to an unfinished sculpture, my half eaten lunch, and an X-acto knife) and pretend that the world wasn't there made all of it worth it.

And alas, no rest for the wicked.  I'll talk about this more next week, but two great friends came to visit and we toured St. Louis.  We had a blast - seeing the Arch, Art Musuem, and City Musuem - and I'll talk about it...at some point.

*Deep sigh*

It's been a long, long month.  But honestly?  I wouldn't trade it for the world.  It's been a great summer, filled with wacky adventures and long conversations with friends under the stars me the kind of summer that country ballads sing about and teenage girls dream of.  I hope you had an amazing summer and tell me all about your favorite summer moment in the comments!

Have a wonderful day.
