These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things
Hey everybody! Amelia here (oh yeah thats my name by the way) with another of those favorites posts. This one's gonna be a bit different though...so hang in there, yeah? Alright, lets do this!
1. My favorite time; Sunset, when everything is in shades of pink and orange and purple, painting the sky in a different sort of beauty every day. The stars are barely visible, and the sun is this great big ball of light thats hard on the eyes but soft on the heart. The moon is orange, like a mandarin, small and shadowy and real enough that i think it could fit in the palm of my hand if i just reached out. But I don't, and that's okay. The moon deserves the sky, not a cage of pianist fingers.
2. My favorite animal(s); I have two favorites right now. The first? A bearded dragon. I'm not normally a fan of reptiles, but my family recently got one, and he's adorable. His name's Rango and he looks dangerous but is really sweet in reality. His spikes are actually soft and kinda bendy and he's warm and snugly too. The underside of his head - or his beard, whatever you call it - is really soft and he smiles and sticks his tongue out whenever you rub it.
My second favorite is.....a not really well-liked animal. It's also my favorite dog breed. I love pitt bulls. They're such sweet dogs, and their smiles are so slobbery and sincere its hard not to love 'em. Rocco (our pitt bull) likes to clamber on my lap and get dirt and drool on my legs and face and all the other pitt bulls I've met are just as huggable. They're a rugged breed with a bad history, but that's what makes them special. And I love them for it.
3. My favorite memory; Right now, its a recent one. Me and my family were driving to the campsite, and it was late. 'Small Bump' by Ed Sheeran was playing from my headphones, and the sun was setting. Everyone was oohing and aahing about the view, but i wasn't. I closed my eyes, listened to the song, and relaxed. I felt the thrum of the engine beneath me, the tilt of the van every time we turned, the burn of the sun on my closed eyelids. Everyone's voices were a bit distant, and I felt detached. Like I was there, but from a distance. Everything was peaceful and quiet and perfect. I don't think any other memory could replace this one.
4. My favorite song; This one is a bit....surprising. At first, I thought the answer would be Gold Rush by Ed Sheeran or Small Bump by him but no....it's neither. It's Believer by Imagine Dragons. I don't know, I can just relate to it. I'm sick and tired of the way things have been and I'm ready to talk about it. No, not right now, but maybe someday. When the world isn't so bigoted and cruel that i can't say a word without being drowned out by 'privileged' people. All the hate has broken me down, and my written word is more useless than my spoken one. And yes, kindness does heal the cracks in me, but sharp words just break me further. So yeah, the song does relate. Far too much to just be a simple song to me, but it does.
5. My favorite color; Yes, yes, the dreaded question. But i think i should say it again, since it's changed. It used to be purple, but now....not so much. Red's a much better color - more appealing - to me. But not blood red. More maroon colored. Soft and warm and reminding me of thanksgiving and cinnamon and thick warm jumpers. A soft color, yeah. Nice and soft and kind.
6. (The last one!) My favorite thing about life; I mean this literally. Whats my favorite thing about being alive. Mine's kind of simple. The act of being able to speak. I mean this in the more metaphorical sense, of course. Imagine how hard it must be, to not be able to speak your mind. To not be able to speak out against injustice and prejudice, even when you so desperately want to. It makes me a bit...relieved, that I can. And to do it so freely? Amazing, isn't it?
And that's it! Thanks for reading, if you did, and if you want, answer the questions in the comments below! Have a good night, everybody!
